Sharon Whiting of Dallas, Texas, passed away in early January. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Patricia Whiting. She was survived by her brother, Kevin, whom she loved with a fierce loyalty; her sister-in-law, Lisa, who became so much more than family; her sister Alison; and her 4 nieces, Kris, Amy, Amanda, and Ashleigh, who she loved as if they were her own children. Her love language was in her availability. While she struggled to reach out, she was always eager to pick up the phone for a chat. She was a stunningly charitable woman, donating to many causes spanning from supporting her Alma Mater, Rice University, to contributing to her local community’s needs. She greatly enjoyed patronizing the arts and could often be found at a museum or Broadway musical. She loved sharing those experiences with those close to her. Sharon put everything she had into her work, priding herself on the efforts she made. She looked forward to retirement just as much as she dreaded leaving her beloved job. Sharon spent her life traveling. She started at an early age, moving from base to base with her Air Force father. Even when the rest of her family settled, she never did, always on a quest for new sights and adventures. Now it gives her family peace to think of the new adventures she’s on now, free of sickness and pain.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice in her name.
